How To FAQ

At beansprog, we understand that living is getting ever more costly and we'd all like our money to go further.  Bringing up children is expensive; they need a lot of stuff that is quickly outgrown and sometimes things don't even get used!  At the same time we all want to give our children as much as possible.

beansprog is the perfect place to sell lovely items that are no longer wanted.  Rather than taking up space in cupboards, lofts or garages we encourage mums to be realistic and sell items on at low, reasonable prices to both make themselves some money and offer value to buyers.

With a huge range of items available buying on beansprog really does make your money stretch further.  Shop at any time of the day (or night!) buying from other parents just like you.

Look out for our 'business bringers' who use beansprog as their online shop - from quirky and fun mini jute bags and slogan t-shirts to hand painted pictures and canvases (many of which can be personalised with a name).

What is beansprog?

beansprog is the mums' marketplace for brand new and quality second-hand baby, kids and maternity items.  We've brought the traditional concept of 'bring & buy' up to date with a dedicated site that makes it easy for parents around the UK to buy and sell.

Why is beansprog different?

  • there’s no auctioning – all prices are fixed and chosen by the bringer (seller)
  • no sale, no fee – just a small commission (10% of the item price) for beansprog when items are bought
  • no need to “Pay & Pray!” – we take payments and hold money in our beanbank until an item is received, then we pay the seller
  • we communicate with you at all stages of the transaction process – by email and text
  • it's easy and simple to advertise
  • our 'beanstandard' quality control policy helps you honestly describe the condition of used items
  • we support children’s charities by donating 2% of our earnings (find out more about beancharity)

 Who are we?

beansprog was founded and is run by Abby (mum to Harry 3 1/2 and Zac 6 months) and Zoe (mum to Ludo 1) who are business partners and sisters.  The idea for beansprog came when Abby had Harry and discovered how much kit children need and outgrow!  It's not always easy with Abby in London and Zoe in Derby but both are passionate about beansprog and have lots of support from their families.
