Tracking how Internet Culture and memes affect and change popular culture and in turn how popular culture effects memes, MemeBase builds on the work of Encyclopedia Dramatica and Know Your Meme. MemeBase believes that, while chronicling the origin is important, tracking and recording the changes and evolution are just as important in understanding how memes and viral content shape the Internet.
What MemeBase tracks:
1. The origin and definition of memes, viral content and Internet Culture icons.
2. The appearances of memes and viral content in popular culture (TV, mainstream media, advertising, etc.)
